Thing #24 My Thoughts on the Program

I have spent the last 10 weeks doing a library program called 25 Things. All of the "25 things" were internet based excercises. At first, my thoughts were a little negative. Why would I need to know about all these different sites? Once I started to do some of the excercise, I was happy to find that I will be visiting the sites again. Not all of them, but some of them. I found a few to be very interesting, fun, and very cool. I also found some sites that I will probably never use again, but now I can say that at least I tried it. For someone who is really self taught on computers, I really enjoyed doing this. Old dogs can still learn new tricks.

Thing #23 Netlibrary

Now this is a site that I could really get into. I do a lot of walking at night with my dog. Downloading a book would be just the thing. I downloaded a book and started to listen to it. Not bad. I can see myself using this one again.

Thing # 22 Podcasting.

I explored Podcasting today. At first I found it to be a little confusing. I am not sure why. I figured out what a Podcast was and how to use them, but I really don't think I will explore this too much. Maybe when I have some time, I will try again and give it a fair shot!

Thing #21 Youtube

I have been on Youtube for few years now. I use this great tool for exploring music videos, balloon twisters, and sporting events. To me, this is one of the best sites ever.

Check out the Balloon Manor video.....

Thing # 20

Well todays excercise was working in wpl learning 2.0. This was an interesting site. I explored through the headings and read some of the staff inputs on Pets, Vacations, and Restaurants. This is an interesting way of getting reviews and antidotes on things. Steve

Thing # 19 Wikis

Wikis, that's a funny word. I had no idea what that was. But, with a little playing and exploring, I discovered that a wiki is a site to go if you need to colaborate with other on a topic. A good example would be in my line of work where I want to undertake a constuction project. I could start a wiki and have all my contractors contribute so I can best see what I need to do first. I am not sure I will use it right now, but maybe when I have time to try it out on a small project, I will give it a try.

Thing # 17 Library 2.0

Over the past few 5 weeks I have been participating in Library 2.0. I have learned that there is still tons of interactive, informative and discoveries to be had in the world wide web. I will use some of the sites that I learned about, while some I won't. But just to know about them and to be able to pass the info on to others would be good.
